WAYWARD SONS - GHOSTS OF YET TO COME

Having had the Wayward Sons album -' Ghosts of yet to Come ' a whole week now, I thought it was time to let you know, what little me thinks.
Buy the merch !

For all of you not aware of Wayward Sons yet ( where have you been?!!) it's a canny band, made up of some great British talent.

Front man to the band is the formidable Toby Jepson, former front man to the awesome Little Angels. Now, I can't say Little Angels without tilting my head to one side and ahhing! They fell into the early 90's era of rock when the likes of Thunder, Gun and Quireboys were making huge waves in the British rock scene and stealing the hearts of many teenage rockers, me included!

Band member numero deux, is Nic wastell on bass.  Nic has the heritage of Chrome Molly to his strings and being a former Record label chum to Little Angels this is about as perfect as it gets.

Every band needs one hell of a guitarist and Sam Wood is the man for the job in Wayward Sons, a younger member but in no way distracting from his talent, having worked his magic in alternative rock band The Treason Kings, Sam now brings his unrestricted skills to Wayward Sons.

Up next is Phil Martini, master of the beat. Yep, Phil is the drummer of the band and again has earned his stripes playing with many a band. The band I recall seeing Phil with though, is the awesome Down n Outz , that makes me an instant fan.

Finally, Dave Kemp is the keys of the band. Dave and Toby have been partners in crime for sometime, not only on Toby's acoustic tours but as writers too. Their friendship and humour completes the band superbly.

That's an introduction to the band done and dusted, now let me introduce you to - 'Ghost Of Yet To Come'. The debut album and overall masterpiece of this newly formed guise.
A ten track album that has been highly anticipated, this promise has been taken to a whole new level with the cleverly, awesome 'quadrology' that has been tantalising fans.
The so called 'Quadrology' consists of  'Until The End', 'Alive','' Crush' and 'Ghosts' - seamlessly brought together with the ruthless, money grabbing zombie enthused video series for these tracks.

'Until The End', was the first released track from the album and has already claimed my coveted track of year accolade, its rocky, strong, compelling and catchy beyond belief!
Fear not though my friends, unlike a film where you watch a stonking trailer then view the film, to realise all the best bits were within the trailer, this is most definitely not the case with this album. The four stunning tracks that have been released are sandwiched within an album that is pure RnR class!

'Ghosts Of Yet to Come' is a whole album of unadulterated Rock n Rock, not a ballad in sight! The closest you will get to that is the colossal  'Crush'.  If you were a Little Angels fan - 'Crush' and 'Until The End' throw back to days of  'Jam' then 'Give it Away 'and 'Be Still' resonate back to days of  'Young Gods' for me.
There are many nods within this album though, many heavy classic rock riffs exploding into your ears, checkout 'Killing Time' - WOW! Big salute to Sam Wood, that is some enchanting playing.
The album concludes with 'Something Wrong' another captivating, symphonic track with a notable bluesy edge this time.
This album really has it all, in simple terms there is not a duffer on it !
I really can't recommend this album enough, its catchy, gutsy, zesty...it's Rock n Roll Baby!
10/10 album!

I may have queued all those years ago, for several hours to get my Little Angels vinyl signed at HMV, Oxford Street but I can hand on heart say, I will be queueing again for Wayward Sons after hearing this Amazing album.
A picture from Little angels signing where I happily queued for 4 hours!

Catch Wayward Sons on tour with Inglorious this October then see them as main support at Planet Rocks - Winters End festival next February, can't wait for this one !

Let's hope there is a LOT more to come from these guys!

Remember everyone, life is better with music in your heart & soul

GUN ALBUM LAUNCH

Last night was a special one.. "Why?" I hear you ask.

It was the GUN album launch at The Big Red in London!!!

The anticipated seventh studio album - Favourite Pleasures, is out this week and the gorgeous GUN guys are hitting a few areas to say a big "Thank You" to the fans, who have already ordered their new, stunning album.

Manchester had a taster of the album on the 11th and last night was London's turn before the Celtic lads return home to hit Glasgow, Paisley, Edinburgh and Dundee.

The guys played a captivating acoustic set last night in London. To kick start the set, it had to be the title track from the album, Favourite Pleasures. A real feel good, mischievous, get your dancing shoes on track, which has picked up a large amount of radio air play already and has secured a big spot in the heart of Gunners and Gunettes.
A track this good, will definitely be a firm favourite in any set list for years to come.

Up next, was track number eight on the new album -Tragic Heroes. The reason I know which number track it is .. it's a bit of a favourite for me. The album is full of corkers but this track, is the one I play and then might have to play again and maybe one more time for good measure!
Acoustically it worked great too! Really hoping this will be included in the set for GUNs December tour.

Third on the bill was Silent Lovers,  GUNs new single from the album. A bouncy, melodic track with tinges of a 70's rock feel . A track with that vibe, is going to do one thing and one thing only - grab the spirits of an already enthusiastic crowd and lift them higher! The London crowd didn't disappoint!

Reminiscing next, Dante affectionately explained how the track - The Boy Who Fooled The World,  was a recollection of those days gone by when we would sit lovingly next to our tape deck, eagerly awaiting a play of our favourite tune on the radio, in order to hit that record button and secure the track you had sat there so patiently for.
Don't tell Dante but I recall doing this with GUN, back in the early 90's. The beam on my face and the pounding of my heart to know I had captured their track, is still what I feel when I see the guys to this very day.
The Boy Who Fooled The world is a mesmeric ballad that conveys this passion and the desire of Dante to follow in the footsteps of his heroes. The boy did good!
Simply stunning track and made for being stripped back and shown in all its glory as an acoustic number.

Gun finished the set with two firm favourites, Crazy You - from their 4th studio album and Better Days - from their debut album ( one of my all time favourite debut albums to this very day). The admiring crowd, joined in whole heartedly with these songs, they know and love and the GUN guys were bowled over by the support.
The support is there by the bucket load for these guys, not only do they produce great songs but they are truly warm hearted guys, that have always embraced their Gunners and Gunettes, an honourable quality.

An additional track was put into the set as an added bonus to the crowd, the fantastic - Steal your Fire from their notorious Gallus album. Dante and the lads were joined on stage by the sweet sounding vocals of Lauren Hill, this gorgeous duet worked, really worked and was a winning way to conclude their set.

There was no rushing off for the GUN guys, straight off the stage and into their adoring audience .
I may have had a cuddle or five !!
The astounding tracks from Favourite Pleasures echoed through The Big Red for everyone to enjoy and get a sneaky listen to before their album lands on their doormat this Friday. It you haven't already pre-ordered a copy, why not head over to gunofficial.co.uk and pick up one of the best albums this year has to offer.

Enjoy receiving your albums, vinyl, tees on Friday everyone .
